The Refined Studio

The architect Rick Joy designed a pied-à-terre in Chelsea for Paul Palandjian, a Massachusetts-based consultant, that is minimal but warm. Eighteen-inch-wide planks of whitewashed fir form a kind of continuous inner skin that sprouts walls of closets, a bed and a dining table. Linen curtains tumble from above the windows and the ceiling is white Venetian plaster.
